You might want to also check out Serendipity, a local bookstore that just made national headlines when hundreds of residents showed up and formed a human chain, transporting books from their old location to their new one around the corner on Main Street.

Chelsea is also home to Jeff Daniels' Purple Rose Theater.

Downtown Ann Arbor is only a 20 minute drive from Chelsea. Along with being home to the University of Michigan, it also offers great shopping and restaurants. It's also home to the Matthaei Botanical Gardens and Nichols Arboretum, a popular tourist destination.
